DeepWater Buoyancy has delivered a series of products to the renowned Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego. The buoys will form part of the Ocean Observatories Initiative (OOI) instrumentation platform.

The latest Scripps shipments included 62” ADCP buoys (one is shown above), as well as a 51” Hydrofloat Mooring Buoy and numerous bolt-on cable floats and buoyancy collars.

Since DeepWater Buoyancy launched its line of subsea oceanography products based on the legacy Flotation Technologies designs, the company has delivered instrumentation platforms and buoyancy solutions for Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, Bedford Institute, University of Washington, FMC and many other customers around the world.

The DeepWater Buoyancy team has decades of experience in the creation and manufacturing of syntactic foam products used by the oceanographic community and the oil/gas industry. Scripps Institute is a key participant in the NSF’s Ocean Observatories Initiative, a networked infrastructure of science-driven sensor systems to measure the physical, chemical, geological and biological variables in the ocean and on the sea floor.
