This month’s product spotlight focuses on DeepWater Buoyancy’s Instrument Bottom Mounts. The line of BTM-AL50 bottom mounts is designed for ADCP deployment in shallow ocean waters, rivers, coastal areas, and anywhere else where the size and remote recoverability of the AL-200 and AL-500 TRBM are not required.

A and B
The Instrument Bottom Mounts come in two varieties.
BTM-AL50-A
This traditional welded unit can be deployed by diver or lowered to the seafloor by line from small vessels. Instrumentation is easily accessible for battery change out or maintenance.
BTM-AL50-B
Like the traditional unit in all other ways, this robust bottom mount is collapsible for ease of transportation and lower shipping costs. The pinned and bolted design makes for a quick and easy assembly.
New Brace for Collapsible Bottom Mount
The collapsible version of the bottom mount, the BTM-AL50-B, has a number of unique benefits including ease of handling and transportation. It also allows users to deploy from smaller vessels.
Recently, we found that users were utilizing these units for applications where their greater payload would have been better suited for the welded version, the BTM-AL50-A. Our designers went to work and produced a field retrofittable and installable brace kit. Once installed, the brace increases the rigidity of the assembly rivaling the welded design.
